Community to Celebrate Milton Hershey’s Birthday on September 13

9/13/2008

It’s a party! Join The M.S. Hershey Foundation to celebrate Milton Hershey’s birthday on Saturday, September 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Hershey’s ChocolateTown Square.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a concert by local jazz group Fretwork as they play a blend of rock, blues, jazz and bluegrass.

No party is complete without cake and candy, so Milton Hershey School students will be serving free cupcakes and The Hershey Company will be distributing free Hershey bars.

The First United Methodist Church will be selling lunch items in their parking lot, adjacent to ChocolateTown Square. Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, located behind the park, will be sponsoring an open house starting at 10 a.m.

In the event of rain, the celebration will be moved to Hershey Theatre at 15 E. Caracas Avenue.

Milton Hershey was born on September 13, 1857 on a Derry Township farm. This would have been his 151st birthday.

ChocolateTown Square is located in downtown Hershey at the intersection of Routes 422 and 743, across from the Hershey Press Building (Houlihan’s Restaurant). For more information, please call (717) 534-3415.
